Registering a child (under 16)

In this article:

If your child is under 16 or you have a newborn baby, you can register them to become part of a family account. A family account allows you to book consultations for them and view their consultation details.

By registering you’ll be switching your child's current NHS GP to Babylon GP at Hand.

Adding a family member to your account

Before you start

Please ensure your membership type on your account is set to 'GP at Hand'.

If you are registered with GP at Hand and use Babylon Private Healthcare services, you may have more than one membership. Registering your child on your Babylon Private membership will only register them as a Private patient.

Find out how to switch your membership type.

  2. Select Family
  3. Tap the + icon
  4. Enter your child's details and send us their documents

Adding a family member on the Babylon web portal

  1. Login via our online portal
  2. Go to Account (in the dropdown under your initials)
  3. Click Family, then + Add family member
  4. Enter your child's details and send us their documents

Verifying your child's details

After your child has been added as a family member on your account, you'll need to send a copy of the following documents to us using our contact form. This will allow us to update their record and verify their identity.

Your child’s documents:

  • Passport - If available, only requires a page containing a photo and other details
  • Birth certificate - Needed only if the passport doesn’t confirm you’re the parent or the child has no passport
  • Personal child health record (red book) - containing any immunisation records

After you apply

We’ll email you once your child is registered. Once registered, their name will appear as an option when you book an appointment on your account.

Child consultations are carried out by video. If your child is under the age of 16 then you will need to be present during the consultation.

Find more information on how to book a consultation for your child.

Once a child turns 16, the access through your family account becomes inactive and they will need to create their own account with their email address to continue to benefit from Babylon GP at Hand. We’ll let you know 1 month in advance before their 16th birthday.
