I currently have high anxiety. Why is the risk of developing anxiety disorder still low?

The mental health section of Healthcheck comprises two separate aspects - self-assess and disease risk. The self-assess component profiles the user at this moment in time for signs of possible mood disorder, low self-esteem or high stress levels, but does not actually diagnose a user with a medical condition such as depression. The disease risk component gives the user an indication of their statistical likelihood of developing depression and anxiety in the next five years. These indications are based on multiple risk factors, including previous diagnosis of depression (for depressive disorder). As there is no direct evidence for how a particular score on a self-assess questionnaire (as opposed to a confirmed diagnosis) affects future risk of depression or anxiety, we cannot incorporate these into our indications. Therefore a user may have a high anxiety self-assess score but low indication of future risk of generalised anxiety disorder, and vice versa.
